Opportunities
We are not primarily a "people sending" organisation but occasionally we do have opportunities for individuals to volunteer to work with one of our projects overseas.
Guidelines
- We do not "impose" volunteers on our overseas partners. Unless they agree, we would not consider sending you.
- We would not send someone to perform a task, which can be done by a local person. For example: it does not make sense to pay hundreds of pounds to go and decorate a children's home when local people need jobs and they can do the job at a fraction of the costs.
- You will need to cover all your costs and not be a financial burden to our overseas partner or to Kingscare. (See panel opposite).
- You need to be culturally sensitive and not have a "British Raj" attitude. You need to be aware that the only difference between our nations is one of resources.
- You need to go ready to learn. You may be surprised to find that you can receive even more than you can give.
- Hopefully, the opportunity will change your life. When you return you have the opportunity to help the project further by fund-raising on behalf of Kingscare as by giving, sacrificially, to the project.
- In many cases it is necessary for us to personally screen possible applicants. We would also need a recommendation letter from your local church leader, pastor, minister, vicar etc.
- Having considered all the financial applications, please consider carefully as to whether it would be better to spend the money directly by donating to a suitable project.
All of this does seem a little off-putting. If you are not put off by the above then perhaps you do have a call from God and it is right for you to go and help in some way in which case contact us.
Watch this space for opportunities!
