Frequently Asked Questions about Sponsorship

What does Sponsorship cover?

  • School fees if needed
  • School uniforms, shoes
  • Exercise books, text books etc.
  • A food supplement where possible
  • Medicine if needed

How does Sponsorship Work?

  • Various overseas churches and Christian organisations select students and send details to Kingscare in the UK.
  • We invite you to fill in the response form in a leaflet.
  • Kingscare sends you a sponsorship card containing a photograph and brief details of the student.
  • You may then communicate with “your” student.

How much does it cost and how do I pay?

The normal cost is £15 a month. However we have special schemes covering Guatemala and India where the cost is £25 a month.

1. Send us an email telling us:

  • Do you want a boy, girl or either
  • Specify age range (if important to you)
  • Specify country (if important to you. )
  • Your postal address so that we can send you a form.

2. You can Pay the first months (£15) sponsorship by credit card

  • We will then contact you so that we can take it from there.

Alternatively you can print a <leaflet>, fill in the form and post it to us.

Can I write to the child?

Yes, please do! We ask you to send it through us and we will ensure that it is translated. We cannot guarantee replies, but we actively encourage the children or the families to write once every six months. However cultural and practical communication differences mean that forming a relationship is possible but needs to be “worked at”.    <Back to top>

What about Birthdays and Christmas?

You may send a card through us - but please no presents. At Christmas we will invite you to contribute to a Pooled Christmas Fund to ensure that all children receive the same extra amount.   <Back to top>

What about administration charges?

Kingscare spreads charity governance costs and project support costs accross all projects in proportion to the income of that project. In 2006 this amounted to about 13%.  <Back to top>

Will Gift Aid Help?

Gift Aid adds about 28% to the value of the gift. This amount will also go for the benefit of children covered under the sponsorship scheme  <Back to top>

Is there a direct link between my gift and the amount spent on "my" child?

Needs vary for each student. You can be sure that the education of "your" child will be a priority but some of your money maybe also used to benefit other children.   <Back to top>
